Picky Vicky

“I don’t want that!”
“I hate going there!”
“I can’t eat this!”
“You aren’t being fair!”
Vicky was so Picky
She did nothing but complain
Her griping and picking
Was driving her parents insane
“I don’t want it!”
“It looks old. ”
“Is this even food?”
“Why is it cold?”
Vicky was so picky
Always asking “Why”?
She was so fussy and so stubborn
It made her mother want to cry.
So Vicky parents sat her down
And asked her why she always complained
And she said, “It’s not my fault.”
It just dinner is all the same
Mommy buys pizza
Daddy cooks spaghetti
Mommy make macaroni and cheese
And yells when the meal is ready
The food is oh so boring
It always tastes the same
Can we try something new
That doesn’t look so plain?
Maybe sweet potatoes
Or banana with pancakes for supper!
Let’s experiment in the kitchen
And see what we discover
Fruit salad for dinner
Cereal cupcakes for dessert
Peanut butter and apples as a snack
Or granola mixed with raspberry yogurt
There are all these food combinations
Waiting to be tried
It’s so much more exciting
Then chicken nuggets served with fries
Vicky’s parents were left speechless
They had nothing to say
Until the silence broke
And Vicky’s mom said… “Ok”
We didn’t mean to be boring
We weren’t making the time
We cooked food that was quick
And didn’t keep taste in mind
We thought you wanted attention
And that’s why you made a fuss
But now we understand
And happy you want to bring flavor back to us
So the next night Vicky’s mom
Took the whole family to the store
They looked at all the foods
They’ve never tried before
They got a little of this and that
Bought more fresh food than in the past
Mix a few ingredients together
They had fun and many laughs
Vicky even washed the dishes
She was happy to spend time with family
It was exactly what she was missing
And when they were done
Vicky was no longer picky
She loved everything she created
Especially her new food fun family
