Green Ear

If plants could talk
What would they say?
Well pay attention
And maybe you’ll hear one day
Just close your eyes and
Open your green ear
And you will hear them loud and clear
“We like to drink
From flowing streams
And dislike chemical
sprayed on our leaves”
“We love sun shine
And it’s warm glow
Hate acid rains
And toxic water below”
“We love cats climbing on us
With their furry paws
We hate being cut down
To build shopping malls”
“We love standing around
And giving you shade
While kids swing on a branch
as they play”
“So don’t pollute or over treat
We produce the food you eat”
“You need us more than
We need you
Because we’ve been here
much longer than you”
“So be good to us
Be good to yourselves
Be good to the land
It will be good for your health”
“We promise to grow
If you provide us with care
And continue to supply
Endless crisp clean air.”
